The Opportunity

Stratton Development and Construction is hiring a dependable, field-first Construction Superintendent to lead local ground-up industrial and commercial projects across the Houston area.

This role is ideal for a superintendent who knows how to run a jobsite, coordinate trades, read plans, communicate clearly, and keep work moving without needing heavy corporate systems or unnecessary layers of management.

You will oversee daily field execution on private industrial warehouse and commercial projects, typically ranging from approximately $2M–$7M. Projects are local to the Houston market, with no standard out-of-state travel and no routine weekend work.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants:

  • Local Houston work
  • A company truck and field support package
  • Direct access to ownership
  • Performance bonus upside
  • A practical, fast-moving construction environment
  • A stable role with a company that builds and develops its own projects

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead daily onsite operations for local ground-up industrial and commercial projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, field crews, vendors, and trades to keep work moving on schedule.
  • Read and interpret construction plans to identify issues before they become costly field problems.
  • Ensure trades are sequenced correctly and jobsite priorities are clearly communicated.
  • Monitor work quality, site progress, manpower, deliveries, and daily production.
  • Communicate field updates to the office through clear, consistent email and written reports.
  • Provide timely updates when trades do not show, materials are delayed, or field conditions change.
  • Enforce jobsite expectations around schedule, workmanship, cleanliness, safety, and accountability.
  • Help prevent avoidable rework, missed rough-ins, sequencing mistakes, and damage to completed work.
  • Represent the company professionally with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, tenants, and internal team members.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of construction field leadership experience.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, field employees, vendors, and daily jobsite activity.
  • Ability to read plans and identify practical construction conflicts in the field.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trade coordination, and jobsite logistics.
  • Proven ability to keep trades accountable and maintain control of daily site operations.
  • Clear communication skills, including regular email updates and written field reporting.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to follow through without constant supervision.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally across the Houston market.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience with ground-up commercial, industrial, warehouse, flex space, metal building, concrete, sitework, or light industrial projects.
  • Experience managing projects in the $2M–$7M range.
  • Background working with concrete, steel, MEP trades, sitework, paving, utilities, or tenant-ready industrial buildings.
  • Prior experience in private commercial construction, development-driven construction, or owner/developer environments.
  • Comfortable working in a practical, field-driven environment where communication is primarily handled through email, documents, and direct updates.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $80,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience.
  • Performance-based project completion bonuses.
  • Company truck provided for field operations.
  • Gas card provided.
  • Company phone and iPad provided.
  • Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick leave.
  • Health stipend / benefits support.
  • Local Houston-area project schedule.
  • No standard weekend or holiday work.
  • No routine out-of-state travel.
  • Opportunity to grow with a stable, owner-led construction and development company.
